DB Michael Roberts, 5-11, 175, 4.35 from Toronto, Canada
has committed to Ohio State. He told Coach Dantonio that he has
picked Ohio State, but he gets the official word to Buckeye coach
Jim Tressel shortly. He is due to call Coach Tressel this morning
and tell him that he has committed to Ohio State. Tressel is actually
the only one at Ohio State under the Buckeyes system that can actually
accept a verbal commitment, and that will happen since Roberts has
been offered a scholarship in writing by Ohio State. Roberts intercepted
seven passes for the Toronto Thunder. He picked OSU after also considering
Tennessee as well as others such as Kentucky, Texas, Miami and USC.
Roberts will be finishing school at Toronto Central Tech in February,
and with Ohio State on the quarters system, he will be able to enroll
for spring quarter and go through spring practice next season at
Ohio State. Roberts is a cover corner. He attended OSU's football
camp in June as well as camp at Tennessee.
Super OL Derrick Morris 6-6, 340 from Huntersville, North
Carolina and his father are visiting Ohio State. They have been
on a Midwest trip since last Saturday and are visiting the Buckeyes.
They will also visit Notre Dame as well as Michigan while in the
Midwest All three of those schools have offered him a scholarship.
He has also been offered by North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Florida,
Georgia Tech, South Carolina and others including Tennessee. At
least one of Morris teammates, RB Anthony L.A. Adams 5-11,
210 has accompanied Morris on his visit. Adams is looking at Tennessee,
Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, Michigan, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame.
The Buckeyes would love to add a verbal commitment from Stan
White Jr. from Maryland, and White has now decided when he will
make his much-anticipated Stanford visit. White will not make a
decision on his college until after he visits Stanford. He will
make that visit the first week in August. White has narrowed things
down to Ohio State and Stanford. Keep in mind that while his mom
and dad both went to Ohio State, his sister is currently at Stanford.
Also keep in mind that a number of White's aunts and uncles also
attended OSU. I certainly think the Buckeyes chances are good of
landing Stan White Jr.
The Buckeyes would love to land WR Roy Hall 6-3, 200, 4.5
from Lyndhurst Brush High School. Justin Zwick, the blue-chip QB
from Massillon Washington who has committed to Ohio State, is working
on behalf of the Buckeyes to land Roy Hall. On his own, Zwick has
been calling WR prospects such as Hall to hopefully have them join
him at OSU. Hall's team had been scheduled for a three-team passing
scrimmage with Wadsworth and Massillon Washington, but Brush was
unable to make the scrimmage, so Hall and Zwick were unable to meet
one another. Zwick told me that he was disappointed because he was
looking forward to seeing Roy Hall and talking to him again. Hall
says that Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Indiana and Northwestern are
still up high on his list, though he also considering Miami and
Notre Dame. All of those schools except Miami have offered him a
scholarship.
WR Maurice Stoval 6-5, 200 from Pennsylvania is an outstanding
prospect that the Buckeyes would love to land. OSU has offered him
a scholarship, but the Buckeyes' chances seem pretty slim. He says
he is considering Ohio State, but the Buckeyes would not be up anywhere
near the top of his list. He is looking at Virginia, Georgia Tech,
West Virginia, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Florida, Penn State,
Miami, Pitt, UCLA and Ohio State, but that UCLA and OSU would not
be as high on his list as some of the others. All of the schools
have offered him a scholarship. He says the Virginia is probably
his leader with Georgia Tech as well as Notre Dame, Michigan State
and Miami also near the top of his list.
RB Nate Schiccatano from Catawissa Southern Columbia High
School in Pennsylvania is a 6-3, 215 pounder with 4.45 40 speed
who is one of the country's top prospects and will be visiting Ohio
State. Schiccatano will visit OSU next weekend. He will visit Michigan
on July 28th, then Michigan State, Ohio State, and finally West
Virginia. He has already been to North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia
Tech, Duke, Wisconsin, Iowa and Notre Dame. In early August he will
visit Pitt, then Penn State. All the schools on his list have offered
him a scholarship. He says that after his visits, he will narrow
his list down.
DL Kwakou Robinson (6-4, 310) from Brooklyn Poly Prep in
New York was quite impressive at Ohio State's football camp in June.
He subsequently has been to camps at Notre Dame, Pitt and Maryland.
He was going to attend the camp at Michigan State but did not, though
he is still looking at the Spartans. Robinson is looking at all
the schools at which he camped, as well as MSU, Notre Dame, USC
and Miami. Other schools on his list include Virginia and a couple
of others. He says he does not currently have a favorite and has
not yet narrowed down his list to the five schools to which he will
make an official visit.
In Florida, Devon Hester 5-11, 175 has been offered a scholarship
by the Buckeyes. He has run a 4.35 40 and has been on the varsity
since his freshman season. As a sophomore he started at RB, and
as a Jr. at RB and CB. He says he would feel comfortable playing
on either side of the ball in college. He rushed for 921 yards this
past season on just 91 carries. He scored 14 times, had two interceptions
and broke up 13 other passes. He says he has not yet decided who
he will visit, but some of the schools on his list include Wisconsin,
Purdue, Florida State, Miami, Virginia, Michigan State, Missouri,
Ohio State, Penn State, Nebraska and West Virginia. Hester says
that all of those schools have offered him scholarship.
There was a rumor going around the TE George Cooper Jr.
6-5, 250, from Westerville North High School had committed to OSU,
but he rumor was false. Cooper is still considering the Buckeyes
but is not close to making a decision. He is the top TE prospect
in Ohio and one of the best in the Midwest. He is currently looking
at Ohio State, Arizona State, Miami of Florida, Georgia Tech, Tennessee,
Notre Dame and Pitt as well as possibly Boston College. All of those
schools have offered him a scholarship, but he is not close to making
a decision. He is going to do it "the slow way" as he
put it and probably wait and take official visits.
Another Ohioan the Buckeyes have offered a scholarship to is DB
Anthony Smith, 6-2, 175 from Hubbard. He is a free safety who
picked off six passes as a junior. He says he has not yet made decision,
but has perhaps narrowed things down to a favorite three. Those
would be Ohio State, Notre Dame and Pitt, though he is still also
considering Syracuse, Boston College and West Virginia. Of those,
Notre Dame is the only one that has not offered him a scholarship.
He visited Notre Dame recently but the Irish did not offer because
he has to raise his test score. If he does, then Notre Dame indicated
they would offer a scholarship. He says he will wait at least a
little while longer before making a decision and may make some official
visits, though he is not totally certain about that. Smith did say
that OSU is still his favorite.
July 16, 2001
There is plenty of news regarding three big-time prospects the
Buckeyes are pursuing.
To begin with, WR Richard Washington from Ft. Myers, FL already
has scheduled an official visit to Ohio State. Washington, one of
the country's top WR prospects, 6-1, 170, 4.4 40, caught 28 passes
as a junior and averaged almost 29 YPC. Washington has previously
told me that OSU is one of his top two choices along with Florida
State. When I spoke with him on Sunday he said he now has scheduled
an official visit to Ohio State when the Bucks take on Northwestern.
He said that OSU and FSU are still his top two choices. He said
that Ohio State would be his first official visit. Washington said
he also is looking at Georgia Tech, Clemson, Michigan, Purdue, and
LSU. As he put it, "There's a lot of them." All the schools
have offered him a scholarship. He said that the does not have a
leader between OSU and FSU. He said that he likes different things
about each one. Washington said that it is important to him that
blue-chip QB Justin Zwick already has committed to Ohio State and
he said he really likes Coach Tressel and Coach Jim Heacock who
is recruiting him. He said he likes how OSU plays and all the WRs
the Buckeyes have sent to the NFL. He also mentioned that Chris
Vance, who of course is now at Ohio State having come in as a JC
transfer, has long been his next door neighbor. Washington was a
freshman at Ft. Myers when Vance was a senior. Washington said that
Chris Vance has taught him just about everything he knows about
football.
OL Derrick Morris from Huntersville North Mecklinburg, North
Carolina is planning to visit the Buckeyes next Monday July 23.
Morris will fly up with his father and visit OSU for two days. Then
they will rent an RV and visit Notre Dame and Michigan. Morris said
he is currently looking at Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Tennessee,
Florida, Georgia and some others. He has just returned from visiting
N. Carolina, Virginia and Georgia. He also stopped by Clemson and
said that today he would visit S. Carolina and Ga. Tech. He also
plans to visit Florida this week. Morris said that each of those
schools has offered him a scholarship. He said that right now he
does not have a favorite. Morris will not be the only prospect from
North Mecklinburg High School next Monday.
RB Anthony L.A. Adams, 5-11, 210, is going to make the trip
along with the Morris. Adams played FB last year and rushed for
700 yards. Adams tells me he likes Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State,
Florida, Michigan and Ga. Tech. He said none of those schools has
offered him a scholarship yet but he said Tennessee is talking about
possibly offering.
A third teammate at North Mecklinburg High School, WR and track
star James Taylor, 5-10, 155, 4.4 40, plans to visit OSU
next Monday. Taylor is from Cedar Hill High School in Cedar Hill,
TX. He played there last year but he has moved to Huntersville,
NC and will play his senior season at North Mecklinburg. Taylor
wants to play football and run track in college.
Stan White, Jr. from Baltimore Gilman HS in Maryland, a 6-3,
225 LB, is one of the top LB prospects in the country. He said that
he has not yet confirmed an exact date to visit Stanford. White
said that he and the Stanford coaches have been playing phone tag.
He said is planning to make that visit before the end of July. White
said that OSU and Stanford are still his top two. He said it's about
95% that he will select one of those two schools. He said that at
this point "I don't think I'll wait to take official visits."
He said that if he had to pick a leader right now it would be Ohio
State.
There was a rumor on Saturday after the commitment of DE Mike
Kudla that super LB Mike D'Andrea might be announcing
a decision that same day. However that rumor was completely false.
I spoke to D'Andrea on Saturday morning and he said that he is not
close to making a decision. D'Andrea said that as of right now he
is still planning to take official visits before making a choice.
He said that he is still primarily looking at three schools, Ohio
State, Nebraska and Michigan. I don't think you can completely rule
Notre Dame out of the picture just yet.
With the commitment of Mike Kudla, Ohio State now has 13 verbals
and the number-one recruiting class in the country at this
time. The Bucks are off to a great start and will probably sign
somewhere between 22 and 24 prospects by national signing day.
Last Wednesday the Buckeyes hosted DE Tim Schaefer, 6-5,
245 from Upper Arlington, OH. Schaefer, who played the DE spot opposite
incoming OSU freshman Simon Fraser last year, has OSU as one of
his top four choices along with Northwestern, Purdue and Notre Dame.
All four schools have offered a scholarship. Schaefer seems a bit
confused right now, as he has been very impressed with all four
schools. He also realizes that he could possibly run into somewhat
of a numbers crunch at Ohio State. He told me that if OSU gets to,
say, 18 or so commitments by the beginning of the season then he
might have to think about making a decision early. Certainly the
Buckeyes are right there in the bid to land Tim Schaefer, one of
the top DE prospects in the Midwest.
Another Ohio DE who likes the Buckeyes is Anthony Montgomery
from Cleveland John Kennedy HS. Montgomery, 6-6, 270, was at
OSU's senior camp June 20, 21. He tells me he likes OSU, Penn State,
Ga. Tech, Notre Dame and Michigan. He said his top three are OSU,
PSU and Ga. Tech. He said OSU and PSU are recruiting him as a DE
while Ga. Tech is recruiting him as a TE. To this point, none of
those schools has offered a scholarship. Montgomery as a junior
played QB and DE. He will likely play some combination of QB, TE
and DE as a senior.
John Kerr from Cleveland St. Ignatius HS, 6-1, 230 MLB, recently
visited OSU. Kerr talked to the OSU coaches and stayed overnight
in Columbus with LeCharles Bentley. Kerr told me he definitely likes
Ohio State, in fact, it's his favorite. Kerr said that he is looking
at all the Big Ten schools but in particular mentioned OSU, Michigan,
Wisconsin and Purdue. A couple of other non-Big Ten schools that
he mentioned were Colorado State and Virginia Tech.
Staying in NE Ohio, OL Eric Claxon from Lakewood St. Edward
HS, 6-8, 320, is interested in Ohio State. Claxon said that Ohio
State is his favorite. He was at OSU's senior camp and will probably
visit W. Virginia's senior camp July 21. Claxon said he is interested
in OSU, Penn State and Indiana.
July 10, 2001
The Buckeyes landed a verbal commitment as expected from DB Tyler
Everett 6-0, 190, 4.47, from Canton McKinley High School. Everett
met with OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel on Monday along with his parents
and Everett officially committed to the Buckeyes at that meeting.
Everett said that he chose Ohio State for several reasons, saying
it was a family atmosphere in the coaches that made him feel that
Ohio State is the place he wants to be. He said that he was impressed
with Ohio State when he was at the Buckeyes' football camp in June
and he that the Buckeyes have told him that he could play either
corner back or safety for Ohio State. Everett is one of the top
two DBs in Ohio and has been a varsity starter since his sophomore
season when he played RB. He also played some on the varsity on
special teams as a freshman. As a junior, he started at free safety
and RB. He picked off five passes as a junior. He has a 3.2 GPA
and a 20 on the ACT. He was impressive at the first session of Ohio
State's football camp and has been heavily leaning to the Buckeyes
ever since. He chose OSU over Indiana, who also offered him a scholarship,
and was drawing quite a bit of interest from other schools such
as Notre Dame and Northwestern.
The Buckeyes could certainly add another commitment yet this week
as LB/DE Mike Kudla 6-4, 235 from Medina, Ohio is
set to visit Ohio State on Thursday along with his parents and brother.
Kudla has told me that if all goes well he could commit to Ohio
State at that meeting. Kudla has close to a 3.9 GPA and a 19 on
the ACT. He made 115 tackles as a sophomore and 167 as a junior.
Kudla plays linebacker in high school but I see him as a DE in college.
OSU, Northwestern, Pitt, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Florida have
offered him a scholarship but he is leaning to OSU. He also mentions
Notre Dame and Michigan though those two have not yet offered him
a scholarship.
Speaking of linebackers, John Kerr (6-1, 230) from Cleveland
Saint Ignatious High School is an ILB who recently visited Ohio
State. Kerr visited on Thursday and Friday of last week. He talked
to the Buckeye coaches, then stayed overnight in Columbus with LeCharles
Bentley. Kerr tells me he definitely likes Ohio State and that OSU
is his favorite. Kerr said the he is really looking at all of the
Big Ten schools but in particular mentioned Ohio State, Michigan,
Wisconsin and Purdue. He also mentions Colorado State and Virginia
Tech.
Also in NE Ohio, OL Eric Claxson 6-8, 320 from Lakewood
St. Edwards High School is also interested in Ohio State. Like Kerr,
Claxson says OSU is his favorite. Claxson was at OSU's senior camp
and says he probably will attend West Virginia's senior camp July
21st. Claxson said he is interested in Ohio State, Penn State and
Indiana with OSU being his favorite.
DE Andy Alleman 6-5, 235, from Massilon Washington High
School has committed to Pitt. Alleman was impressive at the OSU
senior camp and the Buckeyes had indicated to him that they were
interested in him but wanted to see him play a couple of games this
season before offering. Alleman had offers from close to 20 schools
including Northwestern, Indiana, Minnesota, Maryland, West Virginia,
Duke, Louisville and Georgia Tech. His teammate, kicker David
Abdul, has also committed to Pitt. OSU had not offered Abdul.
LB/DE prospect Antonio Reynolds 6-4, 220 from Akron, Ohio
says that he has scholarship offers from Pitt as well as Georgia
Tech, Missouri, Kentucky and Cincinnati among others. Reynolds says
that he is looking at all of the Big Ten schools as well as Miami,
Georgia Tech, Tennessee and a few others. In the Big Ten, he mentions
Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin though at this time the Buckeyes
have not offered a scholarship.
DB Ashton Watson from Huber Heights Wayne High School in
another Buckeye State DB that could possibly make a decision in
the no too distant future. Also, Anthony Smith from Hubbbard
has at times talked about making a decision before the start of
his senior season, though he also has at times talked about waiting
and taking some official visits. From out of state, LB/TE Stan
White Jr. from Baltimore Gilman High School in Maryland is going
to be visiting Stanford and then most likely making a decision between
OSU and Stanford. Right now the Buckeyes have the lead for White.
One of the top prospects in the Big Ten region is going to visit
Ohio State. Nate Schiccatano from Catawissa Southern Columbia
High School in Pennsylvania is a 6-3, 215 pounder with 4.45 40 speed.
He could play RB, WR or safety in college, though he says that schools
are recruiting him more as a RB. He says he would feel comfortable
playing any of those positions at the next level. He has been a
varsity starter since his freshman season. As a junior he rushed
for 1,458 yards averaging 13 yards per carry and scoring 28 times.
Schiccatano also made 40 tackles and picked off two passes. He has
run a 10.8 100 meters in track. He did not attend any camps this
summer but he has been to visit Maryland, Virginia Tech, North Carolina,
Duke, Notre Dame, Iowa and Wisconsin. He will also visit Penn State,
then make a trip westward, first stopping at Pitt, then also visiting
Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and West Virginia. He said
he is visiting the schools that have already offered him a scholarship
in writing. After his trip he will then start to narrow his list
down.
Though the Buckeyes already have commitment from four offensive
linemen the continue to look, and one that is certainly very interested
in Ohio State is Mike Donaldson, 6-6, 330, from Mansfield.
Donaldson says that OSU is his favorite school. He attended camps
at OSU and Notre Dame. He likes OSU, Notre Dame, Illinois, Wisconsin,
then either Georgia Tech or Clemson would be his fifth school. He
says that a couple of MAC schools have offered him a scholarship
but OSU is his favorite.
WR Joey Card 6-1, 180, 4.5 from North Canton, Ohio was at
OSU's senior camp and says that Bowling Green, Buffalo and Cincinnati
have offered him, but he is also looking at some bigger schools,
mentioning Ohio State as well as Northwestern as schools that interest
him.
WR Dominique Byrd 6-3, 230, 4.5 from Minneapolis, Minnesota
says that the Buckeyes have offered him a scholarship and he is
interested in Ohio State. Byrd is the top overall prospect in the
state of Minnesota. He starts at WR and middle linebacker and could
play WR, LB or even TE in college. He made 109 tackles last season.
On offense he caught 56 passes and averaged almost 23 yards per
catch. He has a 2.4 GPA and scored a 21 on the ACT. He says he has
not made any visits yet this summer but he is looking at Michigan
State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Boston College, Pitt, Minnesota,
Illinois, Colorado, Stanford and Penn State. He says that among
the schools that have offered him are Ohio State, Michigan State,
Notre Dame, Illinois, Minnesota, Pitt, Colorado, Iowa and Nebraska.
He says he is considering giving both football and basketball a
try in college. He averages almost 20 points per game in basketball,
but his priority is football.
LB Andy Matakis 6-3, 220 from Corpus Christi Texas is interested
in the Buckeyes. He is a middle linebacker and is originally from
Pennsylvania. He made 129 tackles this past season and is interested
in Illinois, Notre Dame, Ohio State, UCLA, Texas, Texas A&M
and Pitt. Illinois and Texas A&M have offered a scholarship.
He hopes to make a decision in the next few weeks. He will visit
UCLA yet this month, but Illinois is his leader.
In Ohio, DE Larry Tumblin 6-4, 240, from Oberlin is interested
in Ohio State. He made 128 tackles this past season. He has visited
Pitt this summer and says he is going to visit Eastern Michigan
and Ohio State. He is looking at Pitt and OSU as the main two schools
he is interested in, though he said he has some interest in Eastern
Michigan, Central Michigan and Bowling Green. Pitt, EMU and BG have
offered him a scholarship and Pitt is now his favorite.
A player the Buckeyes would love to add to this recruiting class
is WR Richard Washington, 6-1, 170, from Fort Myers, Florida.
He is one of the top WR prospects in the country. The good news
for Ohio State fans is that Washington has Ohio State as one of
his top choices, along with Florida State. Both schools have offered
him a scholarship.
WR Devin Aromashodu, 6-2, 185, 4.4 is another player from
Florida that is interested in the Buckeyes. He caught 29 passes
last season and averaged 21.5 yards per catch, scoring 10 times.
He is in good shape academically and says that he has always liked
Ohio State. He says that he knows that they got QB Justin Zwick
and that has made his interest go up even higher. He says that Miami
and OSU are his two favorites and that the two are about even. He
wants to visit OSU before he says which one he likes better. He
is also looking at Auburn, Northwestern, Florida State and Notre
Dame and says that he things OSU told his coach he has a scholarship
offer and he knows that the other schools have offered him a scholarship.
In Georgia, a very good CB who likes OSU is DeMario Minter,
6-0, 175, 4.35 from Stone Mountain, Georgia. Minter played in seven
games last season but broke a bone in his foot and missed some playing
time. He actually played in two of those games with that broken
foot. He had 35 tackles and two INTs last year. He says he has been
verbally offered by Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ohio State and South
Carolina. He is looking at those schools as well as North Carolina,
Clemson and Auburn as well. He mentioned that OSU Assistant Coach
Tim Spencer was at his school in the spring and that he does want
to visit Ohio State.
July 3, 2001
It almost seems like a lull as Ohio State did not receive a verbal
commitment on Sunday or Monday, and the way things have been going
that's quite a change. OSU had been racking up verbals at a very impressive
pace the last of which came on Saturday from OL Nick Mangold,
6-4, 270, 5.05 from Kettering Alter. He is the top center prospect
in Ohio.
Another Ohioan that certainly would be interested in committing to
Ohio State is Andy Allman, 6-5, 235, 4.75, from Massilon Washington
High School. He was impressive at Ohio State's senior camp and the
Buckeyes certainly are interested though they haven't yet offered
him a scholarship. He has a 2.8 GPA and a 22 on the ACT. He visited
Pitt this past weekend and Pitt has offered him a scholarship. Allman
said hit was really nice at Pitt and he liked it there, got to meet
the coaches, but he did not commit to the Panthers. He has recently
been offered by Georgia Tech and said that his top five in no particular
order are Ohio State, Tennessee, Pitt, Northwestern and Georgia Tech.
Pitt, Northwestern and Georgia Tech have all offered him a scholarship.
He says he wants to commit early, but he says he might want to wait
on Ohio State because he is very interested in Ohio State but as of
now, the Buckeyes have not offered him a scholarship though they have
indicated that they are most definitely interested.
One DL the Buckeyes have offered is Kwakou Robinson, 6-5,
305, 5.1 from Brooklyn Poly Prep High School. Robinson had 8 sacks
last season and helped lead his team to a 9-0 record. He attended
OSU's camp in June and also has been to camp at Notre Dame, Pitt and
Maryland. Robinson is also planning on attending Michigan State's
camp later this month. He says that he is looking at a lot of schools
and Ohio State is most definitely one of them. He mentions OSU as
well as Notre Dame, Pitt, Maryland, USC, Miami, Michigan State as
some of the top schools on his list. All of them have offered him
a scholarship. He says that as of now he does not have a favorite.
A couple of Michigan linemen that are interested in Ohio State are
Joseph Karaska and Rondell Biggs. Karaska is from Southfield
Lathrop High School in Michigan and is a 6-5, 315 pound offensive
lineman who runs a 5.1 40. He has a 2.7 GPA and says he may attend
the upcoming Michigan State camp. He has previously visited Michigan
State, Iowa and Eastern Michigan. Right now he is looking at Michigan
State, Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Idaho, Indiana, Purdue, Notre
Dame and Vanderbilt. MSU, Iowa, Eastern Michigan and Vanderbilt have
already offered him scholarships. Biggs is also from Lathrop High
and is a 6-5, 265 DL who had seven sacks last season. Biggs is looking
at many of the same schools a Karaska including OSU. He has been offered
by several schools including MSU and Vandy.
OL Derrick Morris 6-6, 340, one of the country's top OL from
Huntersville North Carolina, was supposed to visit OSU on Saturday
and Sunday but did not. He and his father decided not to make the
drive but has rescheduled his visit. He and his father decided at
the last minute to wait and fly up to OSU July 23rd rather than to
drive all the way to Columbus. While they are in Columbus, he and
his father are going to rent an RV and visit Notre Dame and Michigan.
So far he has been to Tennessee. Tennessee, Florida, OSU, Michigan,
and Notre Dame are all high on his list, and he is also looking at
Nebraska, Wisconsin, Georgia and Georgia Tech. All of those schools
except Nebraska have offered him a scholarship. He says he has no
favorite, and he might visit North Carolina, North Carolina State
and Virginia this week, though he does like Tennessee and Florida,
but adds that he is a big fan of Orlando Pace.
LB Stan White Jr., 6-3, 225, did visit OSU Thursday and Friday.
The visit went very well and while he was in Columbus he had a chance
to speak with Justin Zwick. White now says that OSU is his favorite
over Stanford, however, he wants to visit Stanford sometime this month
before making a decision, but right now the Buckeyes hold the lead
for his services.
DB Anthony Smith 6-2, 175, from Hubbard, Ohio was at the North-South
High School All-Star football game last Saturday. He had planned that
while in Columbus he and his team, his entire team attended the game,
would most likely stop at OSU and tour Ohio Stadium. However, they
were not able to do that. Smith though continues to have Ohio State
as his favorite over Pitt, Syracuse, Boston College and West Virginia.
All five schools have offered him a scholarship but as of right now
he is just not quite ready to make a decision.
DB Ashton Watson, 5-11, 160, from Huber Heights Wayne High
School is another player the Buckeyes have offered a scholarship to.
He told me that he he emailed the Buckeye coaching staff to set up
another date to visit OSU. At one point Watson was going to visit
OSU this past Friday but his mom could not get off work so that visit
did not take place. He is now just waiting to hear back from the Buckeyes
to set up a date to visit OSU. He says that OSU, MSU and Georgia Tech
are the main schools in which he is interested. OSU and MSU have offered.
Watson says right now he has no leader. He had previously visited
MSU and also attended OSU's senior camp.
The Buckeyes remain very interested in landing DB Tyler Everett
from Canton McKinley High School. Everett has been now visited Indiana
and also continues to have some interest in Northwestern and Notre
Dame, but Everett still had OSU as a 90% leader.
