Ohio State Recruiting: Prep Report

Just eight of the Buckeyes' 18 verbal commitments are still playing football right now, but they're playing it very well. A couple of future Buckeyes will be playing for a championship this weekend, and a few more will be playing for that same opportunity the following week.

Tyquan Lewis (DE/OLB), Tarboro, NC Tarboro HS

Tarboro (13-0) stayed perfect with a 52-24 playoff win over Northeastern, holding them to just 99 yards rushing on the night.

Tim Gardner (OL), Indianapolis, IN Lawrence Central HS

Lawrence Central (14-0) is moving to the 5A state championship game following their 28-15 win in the semifinals over Center Grove.

Taivon Jacobs (WR), District Heights, MD Suitland HS
Suitland's (10-2) season came to an end with a 41-6 loss to Wise in a regional final. Jacobs provided the lone score for his team, via a 25-yard pass in the fourth quarter. He finished with seven receptions for 88 yards.

Michael Hill (DT), Pendleton, SC Pendleton HS
Hill's season is over due to a finger injury.

Darron Lee (ATH), New Albany, OH New Albany HS
New Albany (11-2) advanced to the state semifinals with a 32-30 win over Marion-Franklin. Lee clinched the win for the Eagles when he made a leaping interception over Michigan-bound Jaron Dukes at the New Albany 17-yard line with 47 seconds to play. Lee also threw a 39-yard touchdown pass, had a 36-yard touchdown run, and also returned a punt 82 yards for a score.

Johnny Townsend (P), Orlando, FL Boone HS
Boone finished 6-4 on the year. Townsend will play in the Army All-American Game.

Joey Bosa (DL), Fort Lauderdale, FL St. Thomas Aquinas
St. Thomas Aquinas (9-2) won a regional quarterfinal 42-7 against Miami Beach. St. Thomas actually trailed 7-0 before scoring the game's final 42 points.

J.T. Barrett (QB), Wichita Falls, TX Rider HS
Barrett's season is over due to a knee injury.

Tracy Sprinkle (DL), Elyria, OH Elyria HS
Elyria's season is over. Sprinkle finished the year with 103 tackles, 19 sacks (which led the state, per the Elyria Chronicle Telegram) and 30 tackles for loss. Sprinkle was named the Ohio Division-I Defensive Player of the Year.

Marcus Baugh (TE), Riverside, CA J.W. North HS
J.W. North ended up 6-5 on the year. Baugh finished the season with 38 receptions for 610 yards and three touchdowns. He also finished with 44 tackles.

Ezekiel Elliott (RB), St. Louis, MO, John Burroughs HS
Elliott led his team to a 28-6 win over Monett in the Class 3 semifinals. John Burroughs (13-0) will next play in the MSHSAA Class 3 Championship Game, which can be seen on Fox College Sports Central at 2:00 pm eastern on Friday. Elliott finished with 233 yards on 23 carries, with touchdown runs of 32, 23 and nine yards. He now has 47 touchdowns on the season.

Jayme Thompson (DB), Toledo, OH, Central Catholic HS
Thompson had a 24-yard interception return for a touchdown in Central Catholic's 42-14 Region 6 championship game over Avon. Thompson helped keep Michigan-bound Ross Douglas to 69 yards rushing, 15 of which came in the game's first three quarters.

Evan Lisle (OT), Centerville, OH, Centerville HS
Centerville's season is over. They finished with a 6-4 record.

Eli Woodard (CB), Voorhees, NJ, Eastern HS
Eastern (7-3) got their playoffs started with a 41-38 come-from-behind win over Toms River North. Woodard finished with seven receptions for 157 yards, including an eight-yard touchdown catch.

Billy Price (DL/OL), Youngstown, OH, Austintown Fitch
Fitch finished with a 9-2 record this season..

Jalin Marshall (QB), Middletown, OH, Middletown HS
Middletown's season is over after finishing with a 4-6 record. For the season, Marshall threw for 765 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushed for 1,421 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Cameron Burrows (DB), Trotwood, OH, Trotwood HSTrotwood (11-2) won a Division II, Region 8 final 42-14 over previously undefeated Turpin. Up next for Burrows and Trotwood is a matchup with Darron Lee and New Albany in the state semifinals.
