Ohio State Recruiting: Prep Report
By Tony Gerdeman

Some bad news this week as quarterback commitment J.T. Barrett has reportedly blown out his knee. He isn't scheduled to play at Ohio State until 2014 at the earliest, so he will have plenty of time to recover.

Also, further bad news for you stat lovers, Ezekiel Elliott was off this week, so the touchdown count below won't be as high as it normally is.

Tyquan Lewis (DE/OLB), Tarboro, NC Tarboro HS
Tarboro is now 7-0 after a 34-27 win over the Kinston Vikings. Lewis had a key sack late in the game.

Tim Gardner (OL), Indianapolis, IN Lawrence Central HS Lawrence Central also remained undefeated, improving to 8-0 with a 36-22 win over Franklin Central. Gardner helped pave the way for an offense that ran for 419 yards on the ground.

Taivon Jacobs (WR), District Heights, MD Suitland HS
Suitland was upset 26-6 by DuVal thanks to a stellar use of their wildcat formation. Tailback Karee Mines only managed to rush for 51 yards out of the package, but he did score four touchdowns. He also held Taivon Jacobs to three catches for 42 yards. Suitland fell to 5-1 on the season.

Michael Hill (DT), Pendleton, SC Pendleton HS
Pendleton defeated Powdersville 41-6, which improved them to 4-3 on the season. Powdersville was forced into starting their JV quarterback due to injury.

Darron Lee (ATH), New Albany, OH New Albany HS
Lee led his New Albany team to a 33-14 win over previously unbeaten Olentangy. Lee had two rushing touchdowns, including a 32-yarder. He also had an interception. New Albany moved to 5-2 on the season.

Johnny Townsend (P), Orlando, FL Boone HS
Boone lost 23-6 to Dr. Phillips to fall to 2-3 on the season.

Joey Bosa (DL), Fort Lauderdale, FL St. Thomas Aquinas
St. Thomas Aquinas lost 27-24 to Miramar in overtime on a controversial touchdown that saw a runner who was a half-yard short of the goal line be given a touchdown. The loss drops Aquinas to 3-2 this year.

J.T. Barrett (QB), Wichita Falls, TX Rider HS
Barrett reportedly blew out his knee early in a 44-7 win over Fort Worth Brewer. "Saturday, I went to the sports clinic here in town and got an MRI and they said I tore my ACL, my MCL and my meniscus," Barrett told ESPN.com. "I'm getting a second opinion on Wednesday, but I honestly don't think it's that bad. But like my coach said, 'We expect the worst and hope for the best.'" Barrett's season is over if the reports are true. He was a likely redshirt candidate in 2013 anyway with three quarterbacks ahead of him on the Ohio State roster.

Tracy Sprinkle (DL), Elyria, OH Elyria HS
Sprinkle had 10 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack and two quarterback hurries in Elyria's 28-14 win over Cuyahoga Falls. Elyria improved to 5-2.

Marcus Baugh (TE), Riverside, CA J.W. North HS
Baugh recorded his first career sack (he also plays OLB/DE) in a 21-12 win over Canyon Springs.

Ezekiel Elliott (RB), St. Louis, MO, John Burroughs HS
Elliott was off this week, so he spent the weekend in Columbus watching the Buckeyes defeat Nebraska 63-38. Elliott leads the area with 25 touchdowns. His John Burroughs team is 6-0.

Jayme Thompson (DB), Toledo, OH, Central Catholic HS
Central Catholic traveled to Lima to hand Lima Senior a 47-7 beating. Toledo CC improves to 7-0 on the season and is currently the #1-ranked team in Division II. Thompson finished with nine tackles per reports.

Evan Lisle (OT), Centerville, OH, Centerville HS
Centerville shut out Northmont 13-0 on a wet Homecoming field. The Elks (5-2) scored on their first two drives of the game.

Eli Woodard (CB), Voorhees, NJ, Eastern HS
Eastern fell 34-17 to Williamstown to fall to 3-2 on the season. Woodard has over 300 yards receiving this year.

Billy Price (DL/OL), Youngstown, OH, Austintown Fitch
Austintown Fitch (6-1) picked up their first loss of the season with a 34-14 defeat at Massillon. "Massillon's an excellent football team and an excellent program," Price told The Vindicator. "All the credit goes to them. They out-played us tonight and did what they had to do to get a victory."

Jalin Marshall (QB), Middletown, OH, Middletown HS
Middletown lost 41-14 to Colerain to drop to 2-5 this season. Marshall rushed for 94 yards on 23 carries, though 60 of those yards came on one carry. He was also 6-18 passing for 87 yards and threw two interceptions. On the season, Marshall has now rushed for 953 yards on 130 carries (7.3 ypc).

Cameron Burrows (DB), Trotwood, OH, Trotwood HSTrotwood defeated Greenville 62-12 to improve to 5-2 on the season.
