Football Recruiting
Ohio State Recruiting: Prep Report
By Tony Gerdeman

Urban Meyer has talked about the need for speed and playmakers on offense since the day he arrived. After this past weekend on the Friday night football fields, it continues to look like he's got a few of those types of guys committed.

Ezekiel Elliott, Taivon Jacobs and Jalin Marshall continue to put up numbers that you generally only see from high school superstars. It will be interesting to see how well their games translate into Meyer's language.

Tyquan Lewis (DE/OLB), Tarboro, NC Tarboro HS

The Buckeyes' newest commit got to take the week off as Tarboro had a bye. They are currently 5-0.

Tim Gardner (OL), Indianapolis, IN Lawrence Central HS
Gardner helped his team move to 6-0 with a 42-7 win over Bloomington South.

Taivon Jacobs (WR), District Heights, MD Suitland HS
Jacobs finished with eight receptions for 197 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown. His Suitland team defeated Laurel 41-6. Jacobs' performance once again earned him special recognition from the Washington Post.

Michael Hill (DT), Pendleton, SC Pendleton HS
Hill's Pendleton team beat Blacksburg 17-14 in overtime. It was their first win over Blacksburg since the end of Ronald Reagan's first term.

Darron Lee (ATH), New Albany, OH New Albany HS
Lee threw four touchdowns on just 5-8 passing for 133 yards, and rushed for another 61 yards in a 66-14 win over Franklin Heights. New Albany moves to 3-2 on the season.

Johnny Townsend (P), Orlando, FL Boone HS
Townsend's Boone squad lost 31-7 to Timber Creek, but per the Orlando Sentinel, Townsend had four punts of 45 yards or more, including a long of 65 yards.

Joey Bosa (DL), Fort Lauderdale, FL St. Thomas Aquinas
St. Thomas Aquinas was enjoying a bye week and doing whatever it is that people do in Fort Lauderdale on the weekends.

J.T. Barrett (QB), Wichita Falls, TX Rider HS
Rider also had a bye week last week.

Tracy Sprinkle (DL), Elyria, OH Elyria HS
Sprinkle finished with 14 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks and a handful of quarterback pressures, but it still wasn't enough as Elyria lost 62-55 to North Royalton.

Marcus Baugh (TE), Riverside, CA J.W. North HS
JW North fell to 1-3 on the season following their 17-14 loss to Rancho Cucamonga. Baugh has already accepted an invitation to play in the Under Armour All-American game in January.

Ezekiel Elliott (RB), St. Louis, MO, John Burroughs HS

Elliott was his usual ridiculous self this past weekend, rushing twelve times for 222 yards and five touchdowns in a 55-7 win. He also added a 65-yard punt return touchdown for good measure. This season Elliott has three punt returns to his credit, two of them have gone the distance. Overall, Elliott has rushed for 813 yards on 51 carries (15.9 ypc), and has scored 23 touchdowns.

Jayme Thompson (DB), Toledo, OH, Central Catholic HS
Thompson had six tackles and recovered a fumble in Central Catholic's 56-27 win over Findlay.

Evan Lisle (OT), Centerville, OH, Centerville HS
Lisle helped lead the way to Centerville's 64-7 win over Greenville. The Elks rushed for 446 yards, averaging 10.4 yards per carry. Eight different players carried the ball for Centerville, and five of them scored.

Eli Woodard (CB), Voorhees, NJ, Eastern HS
Eastern won 31-20 over Cherry Hill East, which was their 20th consecutive victory over CH East. Woodard wasn't tested until late, as his side of the field was mostly avoided.

Billy Price (DL/OL), Youngstown, OH, Austintown Fitch
Austintown Fitch moved to 5-0 on the season with a 52-7 win over Youngstown Boardman.

Jalin Marshall (QB), Middletown, OH, Middletown HS
Marshall opened the game against Lakota East with an 81-yard touchdown run, but it wasn't enough as the Middies fell 34-20, dropping to 2-3 on the season. Marshall finished with 155 yards rushing on 23 carries with two touchdowns. He was 7-17 passing for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Cameron Burrows (DB), Trotwood, OH, Trotwood HS
Burrows had both hands involved in Trotwood's 20-0 shutout over West Carrollton. The Rams are now 3-2 on the season.
