Braxton Miller Carted Off in Third Quarter

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller was carted to the locker room during the third quarter of Saturday’s game against Purdue with an apparent head injury.

The Buckeyes’ star sophomore was thrown violently to the Turf at the end of a 37-yard run down the right sideline late in the third quarter. He remained on the ground for quite some time before multiple trainers helped him off the field.

Miller had thrown for 113 yards and rushed for 47 more but had also turned the ball over three times as Ohio State trailed Purdue 20-14 in the second half at Ohio Stadium.

He sat on the bench with his head slumped and trainers gathered around him before a cart came to take him away to the locker room. Radio reports called it an apparent head injury, and a trainer had to sit behind Miller on the cart to hold him in his seat.

ESPN later reported an ambulance outside the Ohio State locker room, which was used to take Miller to a local hospital on a gurney. We will have more updates when they become available, but it’s too early to speculate any further on the seriousness of the injury.

Backup Kenny Guiton has taken over the offense, which picked up a safety on a block-in-the-back call against tight end Jeff Heuerman in the South endzone. Purdue currently leads Ohio State 22-14 late in the fourth quarter.
