Baseball: The Buckeyes dropped the weather-suspended series opener against Illinois but then racked up their first double header sweep of the season to take a 2-1 lead in the series and move themselves out of seventh in the league and into a position to move into third if they should win on Sunday. Baseball: The Buckeyes and Thundering Herd of Marshall got in just five innings before rain moved into the Columbus area causing the game to be shortened. Men's Basketball: Kosta Koufos is declaring for the NBA draft, but not hiring an agent, according to the Canton Repository. Koufos stated in a text message to the Repository "I am declaring for the 2008 NBA Draft but not hiring an agent and maintaining my college eligibility."
The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft is Sunday, April 27. By not hiring an agent, Koufos can later pull out of the draft and return to college. Another option for Koufos is to sign with a team in Greece, his mother's native country.

Football: The draft for the spring game was conducted today at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day was the number one overall pick.
The Scarlet team made defensive end Thaddeus Gibson the overall first player picked in the draft, eschewing the opportunity to take a running back or quarterback with the pick, going instead with a rush defensive end. The Gray countered by opening the other defensive end position as the second position drafted. They took Lawrence Wilson with the first pick at that end.

Wrestling: (Akron, Ohio) There is big Ohio State wrestling news from Akron this weekend according to the-Ozone wrestling beat writer Kevin Schlosser who was there for the 2008 University Nationals.
In the Greco-Roman Tournament on Friday, OSU wrestler Nikko Triggas won the 55kg (121lbs) championship. In the Freestyle Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Reece Humphrey won the 63kg (138.75) championship.
With his title Nikko Triggas earned an automatic invitations to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials; Reece Humphrey competed in a non-Olympic weight class. Triggas’s weight class will compete in Las Vegas on June 13. As individual champions both qualified for the 2008 World University Team Trials in Colorado Springs on May 23-24, 2008.
With the two titles won by Triggas and Humphrey, the Buckeye wrestling program has had six different national champions in the last year. Coaches Joe Heskett and Tommy Rowlands were 2007 Senior National champions; J Jaggers and Mike Pucillo were 2008 NCAA champions.

Football: The Keys, Multi-tasking; Scrimmage Standouts and Weapon Unveiled; they're all covered in the-Ozone Jersey Scrimmage Note and Quotebook now on Columns and Features.
Football: The offense retained the right to wear the scarlet jerseys with a 55-44 win over the defense in the spring jersey scrimmage held in Ohio Stadium today. Todd Boeckman hooked up with Brian Hartline for one touchdown pass as did Joe Bauserman. Brandon Saine has an impressive 22-yard touchdown run to highlight the offense.

In a game that was sometimes frenetic in its pace, OSU took a 92-85 win over UMass to claim the NIT championship and close out the basketball season with a final record of 24-13.
OSU freshman center Kosta Koufos was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
